The Brief
Occupational Hazzard was developed as a strategic digital project by the Mid Hudson Web team, focused on solving real business challenges through thoughtful research, design, and development. The goal was to transform an initial concept into a scalable, user-friendly digital solution that aligned with both user needs and business objectives.

The Challenge
Occupational Hazard is a documentary-driven digital experience rooted in historical events, archival material, and real human stories from the 1970s and 1980s.
The challenge was to translate heavy, sensitive content into a digital format that felt respectful, credible, and engaging without oversimplifying or sensationalizing the subject.
From a project perspective, the team faced several key challenges:

Project Goals
Project Understanding & Historical Research
We began by deeply understanding the subject matter, historical context, and purpose of the Occupational Hazard documentary. This included researching events from the 1970s & 1980s, reviewing archival materials, & aligning with the narrative goals of the project to ensure historical accuracy and respectful representation.
Structured Digital Experience Design
The goal was to translate complex historical content into a clear, accessible digital structure. We focused on organizing stories, timelines, and media in a way that allowed users to explore the documentary naturally without losing context or emotional continuity.
It kept the experience intuitive, immersive, and respectful.
Content Architecture & Platform Development
We designed & developed a scalable platform capable of handling rich media, long-form content, & archival assets. Special attention was given to performance, accessibility, and cross-device compatibility while preserving the documentary’s tone and integrity. Built to stay stable, flexible, and future-ready.
